Maria Muldaur
Maria Muldaur, born Maria Grazia Rosa Domenica D'Amato (Greenwich Village, September 12, 1943) is an American jazz, blues, country and folk singer. Maria started her career around 1963. Her marriage to Geoff Muldar ended in 1972, ending her collaboration with Geoff. Maria has not stuck with the success of her first hit "Midnight at the Oasis" but has also focused on other genres such as Blues, Bluegrass and Appalachian "Old Timey" Music, Gospel, R&B, Jazz and Big Band
Maria Muldaur
A logical name for a first solo LP. The most famous song is of course "Midnight at the oasis". On this solo album Maria shows that she masters many styles. Boogie, Blues, Country and a nice ballad like "I never dit sing you a love song". After her collaboration with Geoff Muldaur, Maria already knew quite a few artists. Not the slightest ones play on this LP like Ray Brown, Ry Cooder. Maria has an impressive raw voice. Flawless. Mastering by Kevin Gray of Cohearent Audio.
Rating
Insiders from the folk scene may know her, but also for audiophiles this LP is no stranger.
First released in 1973 on Reprise, Exhibit Records reissued it on 200 grams of vinyl. And rightly so, because the recording is good, lots of detail and the crystal clear voice of Maria Muldaur.
