Lifeline Quartet
The Lifeline Quartet consists of Michelle Mayne-Graves, Quinton Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald and Walter Penniman II. The quartet sings Gospel from the heart. The title is the cover name for the escape route of slaves from Pennsylvania, Ohio and later Canada.
Music of the underground railroad
All titles on this LP are dedicated to Harriet Tubman who played a major role in the escape of at least 70 slaves from the southern United States. Well-known gospels such as Wade in the water, Deep River and Talk about a child. Everything sung a capella at the Samuel Theater in Segerstrom Center for Arts.
The quartet performed at Yarlung Records' annual board meeting and that's how it happened.
Review
An audiophile masterpiece with an impressive soundstage. You can feel the audience and the space almost tangibly and even hear the enthusiastic crowd chanting "Amen" every now and then. Thanks to the Agfa 468 tape for the SonoruS ATR12 tape recorder and the famuieze AKG C24 "Frank Sinatra" microphone, this is an impressive live experience. Fortunately recorded at 45 rpm.
