Lee Konitz
Lee Konitz sadly passed away on April 15, 2020. This American jazz saxophonist, born on October 13, 1927, played modern jazz. Started on a clarinet and in 1939 a tenor saxophone. He initially worked as an alto saxophonist with Teddy Powell and Jerry Wald. At the age of 21 he was in New York with the famous Miles Davis/Gil Evans nonet. Birth of the Cool recordings are one of the sources of cool jazz. Lee was white what set him apart in this band.
Brazilian Serenade
The LP contains 6 long titles of between 5 and 7 minutes and is a wonderful mixture of Jazz with Brazilian influences.
Rating
Venus Records' recordings are generally flawless. Production is owned by Tetsuo Hara who uses a 24 bit Hyper Magnum Sound System for mixing. Venus Records has become a respected label in Japan, loved by audiophiles. Limited editions that sell out quickly.
