Wind, frost & radiation is the new record of the Kari Ikonen Trio. It is an audiophile 180 gram LP with beautiful songs reminiscent of the legendary Esbjörn Svensson Trio. Now Kari Ikonen is Finnish but the association (for E.S.T enthusiasts) is made quickly. The compositions are by Aram Khachaturian. Recorded in Sweden but mastered by Hans-Jörg Maucksch from Pauler Acoustics. My favorites are The roaring frost and the 9-minute Beatamente. Both numbers give a nice internship, a lot of depth and detail and the special voice of Mia Simanainen singing along on Roaring Frost. Via the link in the LP you also get access to a bonus track "Waltz from The Masquerade Suite".
